Thistle Golf Club
Awarded ****½ stars by Golf Digest, Thistle offers a Scottish-links design with generous wind-swept fairways, stacked sod bunkers and large greens making it one of areas most demanding courses. Named after the Thistle Club, an ancient Scottish golf society, the dramatic 27-hole layout reflects its 1800's Scottish heritage with rolling fairways, hillsides covered in heather and wild flowers, flawless Bentgrass greens and carefully carved bunkers. Of note is probably the par 3 ninth on the "South" nine that plays uphill usually into the wind to a green perched atop a huge mound protected by 2 deep pot bunkers & water. With twelve minutes in between tee times, the Thistle ensures a leisurely round for all. Stop by and visit their new clubhouse which houses an authentic Scottish pub and one of the best collections of golf memorabilia in the world.
The Thistle is sloped at 136 with a course rating of 74.9. L93 Bentgrass greens top this par 72 that measures 6997 yards from the Championship tees. Golfers of all skills will enjoy a round on this marvelous course.
