Sandpiper Bay Golf and Country Club
Recently awarded 4**** stars by Golf Digest, Sandpiper Bay has been a perennial favorite of many golfers for years. This 27-hole course has 3 nine hole configurations fittingly named the "Sand," the "Piper" & the "Bay." Gently rolling contoured fairways lined with native pine trees, naturally carved bunkers and more than 40 acres of lakes adorn this beautiful course. There is plenty of water to be found, in fact water is evident on 19 of the 27 holes and there are least 7 forced carries over the water. The greens are medium in size and do not have much undulation. Overall this is a very player friendly course with many good holes. The 397 yard 18th on the Bay nine comes to mind. A tee shot of about 250 yards is needed to carry the immense stretch of low growing shrubbery in order just to reach a safe landing area before your 150 yard approach shot to the narrow well-guarded green.
Sandpiper Bay plays 6850 yards at its longest from the Championship tees, has a slope of 125 and a course rating of 72.0. The course is undergoing major renovations which include the replacement of the existing greens with MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermuda grass.
