Situated along the scenic Shallotte River, the Arnold Palmer designed Rivers Edge is imaginative and one of the most sensational courses you will ever play. Golfers far and wide come to Rivers Edge to undertake the challenge of this beautiful course which boasts three of the finest finishing holes in golf that are bordered by marsh. Seven of the holes stretch lazily along a mile and a half portion of the Shallotte River, six are perched high on the 40 foot bluffs overlooking the picturesque marshes that intermingle with the river. The interior holes skirt freshwater lakes while skillfully navigating the gentle elevation changes and the tree-lined fairways. The par 5, 9th is probably the most notorious of its holes, a forced carry with a green that juts out into the marsh. When Palmer stated, "It's a superb site. It will be as striking visually as anything people have seen for quite some time", he was not kidding.
A par 72, Rivers Edge measures 6909 yards from the Championship tees, has a slope 149 with a course rating of 74.7 and L93 Bentgrass greens. This extraordinary course should be at the top of everyone's must play list.
