Litchfield Country Club
Litchfield Country Club was among the initial 8 courses built on the Grand Strand and the first constructed in the Pawley's Island/ Litchfield vicinity. This traditionally styled layout rambles through tree-lined fairways amid gentle giant live oaks draped with Spanish moss, tall pines, some cedar trees and the sparkling lakes of a former Carolina rice plantation. Maintaining many of its original attributes, such as greenside pathways providing many bump and run shots, Litchfield's favorable layout has small-lipped bunkers and friendly open front greens. However, many holes have doglegs or are butted against a pond making the use of a driver often the wrong play. There is water on 17 of the 18 holes but you will probably not even notice it either skirts to the side of the hole or is hidden behind the trees and very rarely comes into play.
Tifdwarf Bermuda grass cover the greens of this par 72 course that measures 6752 yards from the Championship tees with a slope of 130 and a course rating of 72.6. Rated 4 ½ **** by Golf Digest Magazine, this is plantation golf at its best.
