The instructions to P. B. Dye were simple, "Make it as hard as you can." The Legends Moorland certainly fits the bill possessing some of the most formidable holes in Myrtle Beach. Having all the components of "target golf," the emphasis here is on accuracy. There are many blind shots as well as massive undulating greens that are elevated above the fairways. Rolling hills, extreme elevation changes, wetlands, natural vegetation, lakes, bunkers and even some cart paths made of railroad ties all add to the aesthetics of the course. Moorland is ranked number 37 on Golf Digest's list of "America's 50 Toughest Golf Courses," a remarkable feat in itself considering the number of courses in the country. Testament to this title is the par-4 sixteenth hole with an imposing large bunker protecting the green and justly named "Hells' Half Acre" and the 460 yard 4th hole with it's aptly named "Big Bertha" guarding it's green.
The Legends Moorland measures 7017 yards from the Gold Tees, has a course rating of 74.0 and is sloped at 136. TifEagle Bermuda Grass adorns the greens of this par 72 course. This fascinating design will test and please all those that relish a challenge. Don't miss the chance to play this imposing course.
