Myrtle Beach Golf course video player.
Opened in 1948, the Dunes continues to be ranked among the very best in the nation. The Atlantic Ocean provides the backdrop for the scenic par 3 ninth hole, while several other holes meander around and through the marsh. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this traditional course has deep bunkers, elevated or crowned greens, pristine sand traps, uphill landing areas and perilous water hazards. Featured in many magazines, the 576 yard 13th hole has been rated one of the best 18 holes in America by Sports Illustrated. Christened "Waterloo," this intimidating hole is guarded by the enormous Lake Singleton that dominates the hole, often giving you a sinking feeling as you watch your ball descend to its depths if you manage to hit into it, and has a dogleg to the right that is very unkind to those who tend to slice. Beware of the stray alligators that frequent this hole.
Measuring in at 7165 from the Championship tees, the Dunes is a par 72 course with A1 Bentgrass greens, sloped at 141 and a course rating of 75.4. Played by some of the greats of the game, this magnificent course is a must play for those that relish a challenge.
