Bald Head Island Club
A ferry ride away, located on an island in the Atlantic Ocean is Bald Head Island Golf Course. Complete with palm trees and giant live oaks, the course at Bald Head winds its way over dunes, around 15 freshwater lagoons, along the ocean, and through a maritime forest. Because more than ¼ of the island's 13,000 acres were donated to the state of North Carolina as a wildlife refuge, many of the holes are so undisturbed they border the natural habitats of herons, egrets, foxes and alligators, many of which can be seen at any time. Bald Head has 2 different faces; the front 9 has a tropical atmosphere flowing through interior of the island, while the back 9 more closely resembles the best links courses in Scotland and Ireland. Boasting a slope of 137, water is prevalent on 16 of the 18 fairways while the 18th hole parallels the scenic Atlantic Ocean.
Bald Head is a par 72 measuring 6804 yards from the Championship tees with a course rating of 73.8 rating and Bermuda Grass greens. This visually beautiful course is challenging yet very playable for the average golfer from the forward tees so catch the ferry and make a day of it!
